About
The Bihari-Kis-Sárrét Catchment Community is a young, newly formed cross-border cooperation between nine Hungarian and three Romanian local governments, involving other agricultural, rural development, nature conservation, and water management organizations.
The organization aims to adapt to increasing drought on a landscape scale, primarily through the transformation of agricultural structures and practices, the introduction of natural water retention, and the improvement of transboundary water resource management practices.
The initiative was launched in 2024 and has since received two technical grants. As part of the Communities For Climate project launched by DG REGIO, informal consultations took place between water management institutions and local authorities on both sides of the border. Under LIFE Logos 4 Waters, sites suitable for water retention were surveyed. We would like to continue along this path and are looking for professional and regional partners in the EU in the fields of climate adaptation, drought management, and adaptation to extreme water events.
