Robust Cyber-Physical Systems for Mission-Critical Applications: Embedded IoT, Wireless Networks & Sensing (EDI, Latvia)

Research Assistant @ Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) at EDI - Institute of Electronics and Computer Science

Riga, Latvia

About

The CPS (Cyber-Physical Systems) Lab at EDI (the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science), Latvia’s top-rated engineering research center, is seeking consortium partners for the 2026 Horizon Europe Mission Calls.

Our lab specializes in the physical side of cyber-physical systems, delivering robust hardware and software solutions where reliability is a top priority.

Our core expertise for the consortium:

  1. Industrial IoT and wireless networks: We develop dependable wireless sensor networks (WSNs), mobile networks, and heterogeneous IoT systems for harsh environments, such as industrial plants and smart cities.

  2. Embedded Systems and RTOS: We have deep expertise in real-time operating systems (Zephyr RTOS), low-level driver development, and energy-efficient firmware for resource-constrained devices.

  3. Smart Sensing and DAQ: We develop custom data acquisition systems with precise signal processing and integrate complex sensor arrays for environmental or structural monitoring.

  4. Wearable Electronics: Prototyping smart wearables for health, safety, and activity tracking with high-precision sensor fusion.

Why EDI?

  1. Track Record: We are an experienced partner in Horizon Europe and KDT/ECSEL, having worked on projects such as Arrowhead Tools and AI4CSM. We provide TRL 4-7 prototypes.

  2. Infrastructure: Advanced test-beds for wireless protocols and embedded systems debugging.

  3. Collaboration: We seamlessly collaborate with AI partners by providing high-quality, pre-processed data from the physical world.

We are interested in joining consortia as a technical partner.

  • Mission Cities: Reliable IoT Infrastructure for Public Transportation and Energy Management

  • Mission Climate: Rugged autonomous sensing stations for disaster early warning systems.

  • Mission Ocean: Underwater communications and marine sensor data loggers.

Let's build reliable future systems together!
