Modern Palliative Care
Full Professor of Palliative Medicine at Medical University of Vienna
Vienna, Austria
About
Modern palliative care plays a vital role in ensuring quality of life for patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. However, the field currently faces significant challenges due to heterogeneous policies and practices across regions and healthcare systems. These differences can lead to unequal access to care, variations in quality, and confusion among healthcare providers and patients alike.
There is a clear need for collaborative research to identify evidence-based best practices, harmonize approaches, and develop comprehensive guidelines that promote equitable, high-quality palliative care. By working together, stakeholders can create a more coordinated framework that supports healthcare professionals, patients, and policymakers in delivering consistent and effective palliative care across diverse settings.
The Palliative Care Research Group of the Medical University of Vienna would be willing to collaborate in a project that aligns with this topic, working with research institutions, healthcare providers, policy experts, and other relevant stakeholders. The project would aim to bridge gaps between regional practices and contribute to a more standardized and effective approach to palliative care across Europe.
