El Biotop Living Lab for Marine Restoration & Monitoring
CEO and Researcher at Natural Art Reef (NAR)
Tarragona, Spain
About
Natural Art Reef offers El Biotop, a large-scale artificial reef in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Tarragona (Spain), as a fully operational marine living laboratory. El Biotop enables applied research on biodiversity dynamics, habitat complexity, passive and active restoration approaches, and long-term ecological monitoring under real environmental conditions.
We are seeking to join or co-develop consortia of marine restoration living labs within European research and innovation frameworks (e.g. Horizon Europe, Mission Ocean). El Biotop can contribute as a testbed for methodologies, indicators, monitoring technologies, governance models and science–policy interfaces, with existing datasets and ongoing monitoring programs.
We offer scientific infrastructure, long-term ecological data, field implementation capacity, and strong collaboration with local stakeholders, administrations and research institutions. We are interested in partnerships with universities, research centers, technology developers and public bodies working on marine restoration, biodiversity monitoring, nature-based solutions and coastal resilience.
