Soil health monitoring

Researcher - Lecturer at Haute Ecole provinciale de Hainaut Condorcet

Ath, Belgium

About

Expertise in agronomic and environmental soil diagnostics, including integrated soil-plant evaluation. We provide combined physical, biological and chemical soil assessments. Physical diagnostics cover soil compaction (penetrometry), structural stability (wet sieving), water holding capacity and water infiltration measurements. Biological assessments include soil biological activity (e.g. respirometry) and quantification of living microbial biomass. We benefit from the support of our Biotechnology Laboratory for soil microbial genetic diversity analyses. Chemical expertise includes, among others, the determination of total and extractable soil elements. Our laboratory also investigates soil functioning, with a particular focus on nitrogen and carbon mineralisation processes. We work in close collaboration with our associated research centre (C.A.R.A.H) for field and on-site experiments, as well as for connections with professional stakeholders.
