About
A Dehesa is a Mediterranean forest modified by humans that combines trees (holm oaks, cork oaks) with pastures, creating a versatile landscape for extensive livestock farming (Iberian pigs, sheep, goats), agriculture, hunting, and the production of cork and firewood, serving as a model of sustainable use and great biodiversity.
The main actors involved in its management, conservation, and knowledge management have recently created the living lab of the same name.
The mission of this living lab is to promote the transformation of the dehesa into a profitable and sustainable model based on improving soil health through regenerative livestock farming, integrating innovation, traditional knowledge, and quadruple helix collaboration to generate lasting economic, environmental, and social benefits.
Its vision is to be a national and international benchmark in innovation applied to regenerative livestock farming in dehesas, demonstrating that it is possible to produce profitably, regenerate soil health, and protect biodiversity, culture, and rural communities.
Fundecyt-Pctex is the innovation interface in this living lab. The experience of the entity in mission soil has been implemented by the following projects: Prepsoil, Humus and Nati00ns.
