Agroecology and soil restoration
Project Technician at APAEMA - Association of Agroecologic Farmers of Mallorca
Porreres, Spain
About
As an association of farmers practicing agroecology and organic agriculture, we are deeply committed to preserving biodiversity and strengthening the resilience of Mediterranean farming systems. We recognise soil as the foundation of the food system and a key lever to address climate change, ecosystem degradation, and farm viability.
We are particularly interested in the implementation, testing, and validation of both innovative and traditional agricultural and land management practices that enhance soil health, biodiversity, and ecosystem services under real farming conditions. Our strong connection to the primary sector, with direct and continuous contact with farmers, allows us to act as an effective bridge between scientific knowledge and on-farm practice, facilitating co-creation, knowledge exchange, and long-term adoption of soil-friendly solutions.
Being part of a consortium would allow us to contribute a strong territorial anchoring and direct access to a wide and diverse network of agroecological and organic farmers. We can provide real-life testing environments, facilitate farmer engagement and participation, and support the co-design and implementation of actions within living labs and lighthouse farms.
Our experience in farmer organisation, peer-to-peer learning, and knowledge transfer enables us to translate scientific outputs into practical, context-adapted solutions, while also ensuring that farmers’ knowledge, needs, and constraints are effectively integrated into research and innovation processes. We can play a key role in stakeholder mobilisation, dissemination, and long-term uptake of results, strengthening the impact and scalability of the project beyond its duration, particularly in Mediterranean and island contexts that are often underrepresented in European research.
