Improving Quality of Life in Older Cancer Patients Through Early Cardio-Pulmonary Toxicity Monitoring

Founder at Eupnoos

London, United Kingdom

About

Older cancer patients are more vulnerable to treatment-related cardio-pulmonary complications due to age-related frailty, reduced physiologic reserve, and multimorbidity. Many high-risk oncology therapies—including ADCs, TKIs, ICIs and combination regimens—can trigger silent early changes in lung function, fluid overload and cardiac stress that remain unnoticed until symptoms become severe. These late-detected toxicities frequently lead to hospitalisation, loss of independence, dose reductions and a measurable decline in overall quality of life.

Eupnoos provides a non-invasive, 45-second breath-acoustic test that can be performed at home or in clinic using any smartphone or a handheld microphone designed for older or digitally limited patients. The platform generates objective biomarkers of congestion, obstruction, restriction and interstitial injury, enabling clinicians to detect physiologic deterioration early, intervene sooner and avoid avoidable acute events.

We are seeking partners to collaborate on a prospective study evaluating the impact of Eupnoos on quality-of-life outcomes in older cancer patients. The project will assess:
• Early detection of cardio-pulmonary toxicity vs standard care
• Reduction in emergency visits and unplanned admissions
• Support for treatment continuity and tolerance
• Patient-reported quality-of-life improvements
• Feasibility of remote monitoring in frail populations

We welcome participation from oncology centres, geriatric oncology teams, quality-of-life researchers, digital-health groups and healthcare organisations interested in safeguarding older patients during cancer treatment.
