Masserie Zappacosta: Guardians of the Molise Landscape
Born in 2009 from the vision of Flavio Zappacosta’s family, this company is a labor of love dedicated to Molise—a pristine land steeped in history. In Montenero di Bisaccia, across three hills caressed by sea breezes, we reclaim agricultural estates and ancient farmsteads (masserie) to transform them into models of sustainability.
Regenerative and Organic Agriculture
Respect for the land is our non-negotiable value. We practice organic and regenerative agriculture, moving away from heavy tilling to restore soil fertility through carbon sequestration and exclusively organic inputs. From traditional crops like Emmer (Farro Dicocco) and the ancient grain "Senatore Cappelli," our vision extends toward new horizons, including coriander and protein crops.
**The Gold of Molise: Our EVOOs
**Our mission is to elevate the Molise P.D.O designation through exceptional, organic extra virgin olive oils produced solely from our own olives:
Olio Cantigallo: Organic and Molise P.D.O., this is a balanced EVOO born from young olive trees in the sandy soils of the Cantigallo district. It is a blend of Gentile di Larino, Nociara, and Leccino varieties.
Olio Granciara: A monovarietal “Cerasa di Montenero,” this unique EVOO comes from indigenous centuries-old trees—true guardians of local biodiversity.
We manage our olive groves in harmony with nature, integrating green manure and the sowing of melliferous (pollinator-friendly) plants to protect the ecosystem.

**The wildlife that inhabits our valleys—wolves, hawks, foxes, and roe deer—is the very soul of Masserie Zappacosta. This vibrant biodiversity is celebrated through designer labels created by artist Massimo Pasca: unique works that transform every bottle into an artistic narrative of the Molise territory.
