Santi Gatto

The Conti vineyard of almost one hectare of the Gatto family has ancient origins, marked by luck and work, wars and sacrifices. From a mill that engaged the family in the production of flour to a viper that bit one of the first farmers of the land. History that leads Matteo and his eldest son Santi in 2007 to start the Azienda Agricola Gatto, which expands the old vineyard and replaces it with a modern plant, characterized by the native varieties of Doc Faro, and which thus gives rise to the "Chiano Conti". In 2017, the company was transferred from Matteo to his son Santi and thus Tenuta Gatto was born. From 2019 the production of the white Ardalìa has been started, an IGT produced by the white vinification of Nerello Mascalese. In 2020, Mussarussi was born, an aromatized wine of the Messina tradition. Santi follows all the manufacturing processes of all the wines, from the cultivation of the vineyards to the realization of the finished product and the subsequent promotion and sale. The vineyard is maintained using natural organic substances, limiting the use of chemical treatments and carrying out green pruning, eliminating excess bunches and shoots in order to improve quality and limit pest attacks. Furthermore, since 2020 the company is associated with Fivi, the Italian Federation of Independent Winegrowers.
