APWonders

APWonders S.r.l. is a spin-off company of the University of Palermo, engaged in the research, development and creation of intellectual property in the field of industrial engineering, as well as in the design, production and marketing of innovative products and services with high technological value.

APWonders' initial core business focused on a newly designed wind turbine. The company has conceived and patented further innovative solutions, including an anti-roll system for boats and an impact energy absorption system. APWonders has received prestigious accolades, including securing funding under Invitalia’s Smart&Start programme and being awarded the Seal of Excellence by the European Commission in 2017 and 2018 following participation in Horizon 2020 calls.

Over the years, the company's activities have progressively evolved: today, the core business focuses on the design and development of custom-made devices and prototypes tailored to the specific needs of clients.

Research centers, both public and private, often lack advanced mechanical design expertise, particularly when it comes to the creation of complex laboratory devices and prototypes. As a result, there is unmet demand, since traditional mechanical workshops rarely possess the necessary know-how to turn an idea into a product that fully meets operational requirements.

The separate procurement of such components, especially for public research institutions, proves extremely time-consuming due to the lengthy bureaucratic procedures governing acquisitions.

Thanks to this capability, the company has met the needs of major centers of excellence, participating in public tenders for the supply of cutting-edge laboratory devices.
