Innovation Manager at Bondalti Water
About
Bondalti Water can act as an implementation and demonstration partner bridging biotechnology-driven remediation concepts with real-world aquatic systems (rivers, lakes, coastal waters, groundwater, sediments) and the operational realities of water authorities and utilities. We contribute to deployable, locally adaptable remediation solutions, supported by robust monitoring and risk assessment, aligned with the topic’s expected outcomes on effective biotech/life-science solutions and improved tools for managing contaminants of emerging concern (CEC), notably PFAS, antimicrobial substances and microplastics.
What we can contribute (work packages / tasks)
-
Engineering and deployment of site-specific solutions: design, integration and field implementation of remediation trains (source / in-water / sediment / groundwater interfaces), including operational protocols that ensure no harm to the environment and practical O&M feasibility.
-
Demonstration scaffolding for biotech approaches: pilot/demonstration infrastructure and operational validation for approaches based on microorganisms and/or microbial communities and, where relevant, integration interfaces for microbially biosynthesised nanoparticles (in collaboration with technology developers).
-
Monitoring, MRV and digitalisation: deployment of monitoring systems and data pipelines to support high-resolution and effect-based monitoring, risk assessment, and performance verification (mass balances, resilience indicators, ecological recovery proxies).
-
Pathways and interlinkages mapping: contribution to establishing pollutant pathways and system interlinkages (surface–groundwater–coastal), identifying where interventions are most beneficial and how management actions should be prioritised.
-
Interface with wastewater and drinking-water systems: translation of remediation outcomes into actionable measures for utilities (e.g., upstream control points, treatment interfaces, residuals handling) relevant to real catchment management.
-
Stakeholder and authority engagement: structured engagement with local competent authorities, utilities, and stakeholders to support transparent communication, acceptance and upscaling pathways, as required by the topic.
