Innovation Manager at Bondalti Water

About

Bondalti Water offers an industrial integrator and demonstrator role focused on the enabling infrastructure that determines whether circular seafood concepts scale in real conditions: water management, wastewater and residue treatment, resource recovery, and digital monitoring. We support end-to-end circularity by reducing and valorising waste streams from aquaculture and seafood processing while improving environmental performance and local socio-economic benefits, in line with the topic’s objectives and expected outcomes.

What we can contribute (work packages / tasks)

  • Circular water and effluent management for seafood processing and aquaculture: design/optimisation of water loops, minimisation of discharges, and robust treatment trains for high-load, saline, and variable effluents to reduce pollution and enable circular operation.

  • By-product and waste-stream valorisation enabling packages: integration of pre-treatment, separation, and residue handling needed to valorise by-products (e.g., trimmings, viscera, shells, seaweed/algal residues, sludge/manure) while ensuring operational reliability and compliance.

  • Digital tools and predictive models: implementation of monitoring and modelling to quantify waste/pollution, optimise waste management, and measure the effectiveness of circular solutions in reducing waste in real operations.

  • Demonstration design and performance verification: definition of KPIs (waste reduction, resource efficiency, environmental indicators, socio-economic value), monitoring protocols, and operational playbooks to support demonstration in real conditions with ≥3 use cases per project.

  • Scale-up and replication readiness: engineering for deployability (CAPEX/OPEX, maintenance, fouling control, reliability), plus replication roadmap aligned with Mission lighthouse/basin implementation needs.

  • Stakeholder co-creation and local benefits: structured engagement with producers, processors, technology providers and researchers to co-design solutions, create local jobs/business opportunities, and build skills.

Assets

  • Proven capability to operate and optimise industrial water/wastewater systems under harsh conditions (high organic loads, salinity, solids, variable operation).

  • Strong digitalisation competence: online sensing, data pipelines, and model-based performance monitoring to convert demonstrations into replicable solutions.
