Parallel Session n°4: Digital Revolution in R&D - From Field to Market
In the ever-evolving world of research and development, digital tools are transforming the way we innovate—from identifying molecules to formulating final products, and from field to fork. This seminar will explore cutting-edge digital solutions in two major fields
-
In silico tools to support biomanufacturing: leads screening, protein optimisation, allergenicity assessment, continuous production and digital twins
-
Satellite imaging and infrared optical sorting as tools to support agriculture
Agenda:
-
HiVE: A satellite constellation for enabling smart agriculture.
In January 2025, constellr launched the first satellite of its own constellation, aimed at delivering precise, daily global temperature measurements. These temperature insights are essential for a wide range of vegetation monitoring applications at the field level. This presentation will highlight several real-world use cases demonstrating how constellr’s land surface temperature data supports food security by improving yield prediction, enabling early detection of crop stress, and enhancing evapotranspiration monitoring.

Singel Kernel (SK) Near Infrared (NIR) sorting : A Post-Harvest Tool for Developing More Viable Food Supply Chains
At each harvest, a portion of the grains cannot be used as food due to deviant technological or health quality. This problem is all the more critical in low-intensity and organic production systems. Grain-by-grain infrared optical sorting is a post-harvest lever to avoid batch downgrading in order to enable the economic growth of food grain sectors. This sorting can also be considered for high-throughput real-time quality control, in-depth characterization of batch quality and better contaminant management**.**
