Slovenian Chamber of Mountain Resorts Since its establishment over a decade ago and in cooperation with the members of the Association of Slovenian Cableway Operators, the Mountain Resorts Chamber of Slovenia has been an initiator of the development of year-round active tourism. Deseasonalization and sustainable tourism products are the guiding principles in connecting with other associations and organizations, and in ensuring a competitive tourism product. Due to their embeddedness in nature, the members will continue to consider all aspects of sustainable development with an emphasis on human resources, and will more intensively integrate the findings of science and research institutions into their work. Despite their small size, our members have proven in recent years that mountain resorts in Slovenia are becoming an increasingly important and indispensable segment of the tourism offer.

About me

Dr. Damjan Pintar is a graduate in Physical Education from the University of Ljubljana. He holds a postgraduate degree in Sports Management (MEMOS) and a Master's in Sport Organisation Management from University Claude Bernard Lyon 1. He also has a Ph.D. with a focus on the development and management of Active Sport Tourism from the Faculty of Business Sciences in Celje.

From 1987 until 1996, he acted as the marketing director of a tourist company Unior Turizem and developed sport-related products in tourism. Since 1996 to 2007, he acted most of the time as the Marketing Director of the Slovenian Olympic Committee, where he developed an efficient model for Olympic-related marketing in small countries.

From 2007 to 2013, he served as the Director of the tourist program at Unitur (www.unitur.eu), which owns ski resorts, spas, and sports centers in Slovenia. During this time, he developed year-round sports programs and brought and managed international events, including world cups in cross-country skiing, snowboarding, IPC alpine skiing, and continental cups in mountain biking, beach volleyball, and alpine skiing.

Since 2013, Dr. Pintar works as an international consultant in the field of sport turism business, with a particular focus on sports and tourism worldwide, through his company Dandi doo (Dandi Innovative ventures www.dandi.si) and branches Sportour (www.sportour.biz), Dandi Rogla apartments (www.rogla-apartments.com), Connect Direct, Water Village, and more.

He is building an international network of companies and experts and serves Dandi connects business partners from Europe and Asia, providing full support when entering EU markets.

Since 2002, Dr. Pintar has been an external expert for IOC - Olympic Solidarity, and from 2005 to 2017, he served as the marketing advisor for ICMG (The International Committee of the Mediterranean Games). He has been a member of the Assembly of the Slovenian Chamber of Mountain Resorts since 2008, serving as its president. Additionally, he is a member of the Management Board of the Slovenian Chamber of Economy and Industry (https://www.gzs.si/).

Since 2015, he has successfully concluded consultancy projects for tourist companies, such as Hit Alpinea in Kranjska Gora (Slovenia) and the Bernardin Group in Portorož, Slovenia, where he brought and co-organized international sport tourism events.

He has also coordinated sport tourism projects in Europe and Asia. From 2012 to 2017, Dr. Pintar held the position of Vice President of FIANET, the European Mountain Resorts Association.

He has been an invited lecturer in numerous sports marketing and tourism seminars and has developed marketing strategies in several countries worldwide.

He currently teaches as a part-time lecturer on sports and tourism at the Faculty of Management and Law in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Dr. Pintar is the author or co-author of books published in Slovenia and the USA. Dr. Damjan Pintar is a co-founder of the Dr. Danilo Turk Foundation, which assists in the rehabilitation of children injured by weapons from around the world. The foundation also provides funds and scholarships to children and youngsters from Slovenia who need support for personal development. Furthermore, Dr. Pintar has been voluntarily assisting the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.
