About
Monitoring of Energy Production Compared to Conventional Silicon Panels
The proposed pilot initiative aims to demonstrate the real-world performance advantages of CIGS (Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide) thin-film solar technology developed by Midsummer AB over traditional crystalline silicon panels currently dominating the photovoltaic market.
Under this program, True Green CIGS, the official representative of Midsummer in Poland, will coordinate the installation of a rooftop CIGS solar system on the premises of a strategic commercial or industrial partner (e.g. logistics center, retail chain, or manufacturing facility). The installation will be paired with a parallel silicon-based system of equivalent nominal power, allowing for direct, long-term comparison of performance under identical conditions.
The pilot will focus on:
-
Energy yield analysis per square meter of roof surface across different weather and light conditions.
-
Thermal and mechanical performance assessment, including weight distribution, wind resistance, and adaptability to non-structural or low-load roofs.
-
Lifecycle and sustainability impact measurement, including embodied carbon comparison between CIGS and silicon modules.
-
Digital monitoring integration, providing real-time production data and analytics through a cloud-based dashboard.
The project’s purpose is to quantify the benefits of lightweight, flexible solar solutions for modern buildings — particularly those where traditional silicon panels are not viable due to roof load or aesthetic constraints.
Ultimately, this pilot program will deliver tangible proof of efficiency, safety, and sustainability advantages of CIGS technology, paving the way for large-scale adoption within Poland’s commercial and industrial building sectors.
