Su di me

Michele Russo graduated in Electronic Engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Naples in 1973. His career spans over 45 years in the defence electronics and aerospace sectors, combining deep technical expertise with strategic leadership. He began as a radar systems designer at Selenia (now Leonardo), contributing to the first Italian phased‑array radar (EMPAR). He then moved to Elettronica, where he led the system design of the first COMINT and communication jamming systems for the Italian Air Force, as well as interferometric direction finders for aeronautical applications. As Head of Systems and Research at ELTCOM, he pioneered advanced direction‑finding techniques (correlative vector algorithms, multi‑antenna arrays) and developed airborne interception/jamming systems (TARAN) for the Spanish Air Force. He later held senior sales and business development roles, gaining deep insight into national and international defence markets.

Since 2010, as Technical Director of SenTech, he has overseen R&D in:

AI and computer vision for EO/IR and SAR applications (change detection, automatic target recognition, SLAM);

RF signal processing for super‑resolution direction finding and passive geolocation;

Real‑time radar target generators for complex scenario simulation;

Medical image processing for neurosurgery (3D systems, in collaboration with La Sapienza University).

He has also held academic roles, teaching integrated electronic defence systems at master’s level for the Italian Defence Staff, the University of Genoa, and the Chiavari Armed Forces School. He is registered as a technical expert with the Court of Rome in electronics, telecommunications, radar and electronic defence.
