About

The challenge

The expansion of professional battery-electric mobility increasingly depends on access to suitable charging infrastructure. While fixed charging is effective in many applications, it can become a barrier when operations are temporary or decentralised, grid capacity is limited, or infrastructure cannot be installed at the speed required by the mobility service.

For professional operators, the challenge is therefore not simply access to electricity, but ensuring that sufficient energy is available at the right place and at the right time without compromising vehicle availability. In these situations, the need for permanent infrastructure can delay electrification, restrict operational flexibility and create significant upfront investment before a new service can even begin.

Scope

TOOKH2 explores a different approach in which clean energy can be brought closer to the mobility operation instead of requiring the fleet to depend exclusively on fixed charging infrastructure.

The project will integrate a transportable hydrogen-powered energy solution with digital fleet coordination and demonstrate its operation under representative professional conditions. The aim is to provide a flexible energy layer capable of supporting battery-electric mobility while preserving the existing electric vehicle architecture.

Hydrogen is therefore not introduced as an alternative vehicle powertrain, but as an enabling energy vector that can extend the reach of electric mobility into operating environments where conventional charging infrastructure is limited, temporary or difficult to justify.

TOOKH2 directly addresses the IH-MIE challenge “Integration with other mobility solutions” and also contributes to “Supply Chain and Logistics” through the development of a deployable energy concept with potential for replication across different professional mobility applications.

Cooperation within IH-MIE

TOOKH2 is being developed jointly by H2Vector and Mothium, but the consortium is interested in connecting with other IH-MIE participants that can contribute a complementary operational perspective or provide a potential future replication environment.

Such cooperation would help the project test the transferability of the concept beyond its initial demonstration, understand how different fleet operating conditions influence the value of mobile energy supply and identify where the solution could provide the strongest benefit within the wider European professional mobility ecosystem.
