About me

I have gained experience in the field of Biochemistry, Industrial Biotechnology, Fermentation Technology, and Microbiology by working at:

-The Department of Biology, University of Napoli Federico II, Napoli, Italy (2010-2015 and 2017-2019);
-The Danish Archaea Centre, University of Copenhagen, Denmark (2009-2010 and 2013);
-The Division of Industrial Biotechnology at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden (2015-2017).

In February 2020, I have joined as Assistant Professor of Biochemistry the Department of Biotechnology (University of Verona). There, I lead the Biochemistry and Industrial Biotechnology (BIB) Laboratory.

In 2023 I was promoted as Associate Professor of Biochemistry. Recently, I got a research grant (as PI) to work on the enzymatic synthesis of biodegradable polyesters.

Research interests of the BIB lab include, among others:

1. Study of enzymes for the valorization of lignocellulosic and plastic biomasses (synthesis and degradation);

2. Studies of microorganisms for biotechnological applications;

3. Design of methods for the analysis of enzyme kinetics;

4. Development of eco-sustainable industrial processes for the production of biomolecules (polymer building blocks, pharmaceuticals, etc.);

5. Identification and characterization of bioactive peptides and oligosaccharides.

I am always willing to explore new possibilities of collaboration. So, feel free to drop a message!
