CITIC supports environmental sustainability through intelligent technologies that improve resource management and environmental monitoring. Its work includes the development of green algorithms (as showcased through the UDC-INDITEX Chair on Green Algorithms), fish stock monitoring systems, marine spill detection through image analysis, applications of advanced technologies to waste management and light pollution monitoring using low-cost devices connected to data from the Gaia space mission.

The center also researches adaptive visualization techniques and AI-based environmental analytics, helping public administrations, researchers, and industry stakeholders make informed decisions that promote ecological protection and sustainable development.
