Partner for invertebrate biodiversity monitoring, DNA barcoding and eDNA

Professor of Zoology and Animal Ecology at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University

About

I represent a research group at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, with expertise in invertebrate zoology, biodiversity, molecular phylogenetics, phylogeography, DNA barcoding, eDNA, invasive species and conservation biology.

We are interested in joining Horizon Europe consortia addressing biodiversity decline, particularly the direct and indirect drivers of invertebrate decline, cost-effective biodiversity monitoring, invasive alien species, ecosystem restoration, and freshwater and marine biodiversity.

Our team can contribute:

  • field sampling and biodiversity surveys;

  • taxonomic identification of aquatic invertebrates;

  • DNA barcoding and molecular identification;

  • eDNA-based biodiversity assessment;

  • molecular phylogenetic and phylogeographic analyses;

  • population-level and biogeographic analyses;

  • assessment of invasive and non-native species;

  • biodiversity monitoring in freshwater and other aquatic ecosystems;

  • expertise on biodiversity in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.

We currently lead research on DNA barcoding for biomonitoring freshwater ecosystems under the combined pressures of climate change and military impacts and have experience in Horizon Europe biodiversity projects and international collaborative research.

We are particularly interested in contributing biological, taxonomic and molecular expertise to multidisciplinary consortia combining ecology, genomics, environmental monitoring, modelling, restoration and conservation planning.
