City of Kaštela (Croatia): Area B living lab sites for nature restoration
EU FUNDS SENIOR ADVISOR at CITY OF KASTELA
KASTELA, Croatia
About
The City of Kaštela is a local public authority on the central Dalmatian coast, with about 38,000 inhabitants. We want to join a NATURE-2027-02-02 consortium as a partner and living lab site.
What we offer:
– Pilot sites on public land: the Kaštela agricultural plain and the slopes of Mount Kozjak, with olive groves and dry-stone walls (Area B – agricultural landscapes, high-diversity landscape features, NRR Art. 11), and torrents flowing into Kaštela Bay.
– Permits, access to sites and coordination with local stakeholders: farmers, olive growers’ associations, the tourist board, the water management authority.
– Co-design workshops with citizens and uptake of results into the City’s planning documents.
Relevant experience: the City has worked as a partner in 20+ EU projects. In STRENGTH (Interreg Italy-Croatia, 2024–2026) it is building an early flood warning system. In NEXTCAPE (Interreg Italy-Croatia, 2026–2029) it is the pilot city for nature-based flood adaptation in a protected historic area. In Hidden Habitats (ERDF, 2018–2021) it set up visitor infrastructure at the protected natural monument “Stara maslina”, a 1,500-year-old olive tree.
Looking for: a coordinator or consortium preparing a proposal for NATURE-2027-02-02, and the networking project under NATURE-2027-02-03.
