ICCRAM expertise on PFAS impacts in soil-plant systems, ecotoxicology and ecosystem recovery

Senior researcher at ICCRAM - University of Burgos

Burgos, Spain

About

ICCRAM ( International Research Center in Critical Raw Materials for Advanced Industrial Technologies, University of Burgos, Spain) is interested in joining a consortium for HORIZON-NATURE-2027-01-01. We already participate in REMEDYOS, an HE project focused on PFAS funded in 2026, in a ZEROPOLLUTION call.

Our contribution would focus on terrestrial ecosystems and the soil–plant–microbiome interface. ICCRAM combines environmental biotechnology, microbiology and toxicology, soil restoration and sustainability assessment, with experience in contaminated and degraded soils, microbial-assisted phytoremediation, industrial crops and environmental risk assessment.

We can contribute to:

·   field and controlled studies linking contaminant exposure with soil, plant and microbial responses;

·   soil–plant transfer, bioavailability, ecotoxicological effects and ecosystem-health indicators;

·   phytoremediation and microbial-assisted phytoremediation, including industrial crops such as hemp;

·   assessment of ecosystem recovery after remediation and development of monitoring/MRV approaches;

·   environmental, economic and social sustainability assessment of remediation or management options;

·   exploitation of contaminated/degraded field sites and integration of field, laboratory and spatial data.

We are particularly interested in leading or co-leading tasks/WPs on terrestrial PFAS impacts, soil and plant ecotoxicology, phytoremediation, ecosystem recovery or sustainability assessment.
