About
SDSN Association Paris is a French association of general interest (loi 1901), operating as the coordinating legal entity of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) in Europe and globally. Established in 2012 under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary‑General, the SDSN mobilizes universities and research institutions to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement. It is fully independent from governments, political parties, and commercial interests.
The SDSN’s academic network forms the foundation of its impact. Universities play a critical role in driving transformative and practical solutions for the world’s most acute challenges. The SDSN’s dynamic network enables locally-grounded solutions informed by global evidence. In Europe, the SDSN Association Paris coordinates across 19 National and Regional Networks, including 16 within EU Member States, bringing together more than 580 member institutions with recognised expertise in sustainable development, climate action, and environmental governance. Globally, the SDSN spans 60 networks and over 2,200 member institutions. The full list of SDSN’s members in Europe is attached to the application.
Within the SDSN, the SDSN Association Paris hosts two major research and analytical programs that inform policymaking at the EU and global levels. These include:
-
The Food, Agriculture, Biodiversity, Land-Use and Energy (FABLE) Consortium, a multidisciplinary network supporting long‑term pathways for sustainable food systems, biodiversity protection, land‑use planning, and climate mitigation. The Consortium includes 30 country teams, 10 of which are in EU Member States. SDSN Association Paris leads the FABLE Secretariat, responsible for network management, coordination, and communication; developing research and modelling tools, including the FABLE Calculator; and providing policy engagement support and cross‑country learning.
-
The SDG Transformation Centre provides science‑based analytics, geospatial tools, and policy tracking to support implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement. Its work strengthens evidence‑based policymaking across Europe and globally.
