AMIRANI seeks Horizon Europe NATURE consortia: biodiversity, One Health, environment, climate change and community engagement

Environmental Engineer, PhD in Atmoshperic Science | Co-founder and Legal Representative, AMIRANI at AMIRANI

Thessaloniki, Greece

About

AMIRANI is a newly established non-profit organisation based in Thessaloniki, Greece. We are seeking to join Horizon Europe NATURE consortia as a project partner, particularly in proposals connecting biodiversity and ecosystem change with human health, climate resilience and community well-being.

Our interests include the biodiversity–health interface through a One Health approach; ecosystem restoration and nature-based solutions; and systemic approaches that connect environmental evidence with policy and local action. We are especially interested in projects that involve communities and public authorities in developing and testing solutions.

AMIRANI has two founding members: Christiana Polyzou, an Environmental Engineer with a PhD in Atmospheric Science and long experience in EU projects and a lawyer. Both are postgraduate students in “Global Health - Crisis Management” at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Christiana brings more than 15 years of individual professional experience in environmental management, climate change, sustainability and European projects, including climate risk assessment, environmental monitoring, support for habitat and species conservation assessment and work with local authorities.

Depending on the consortium’s research questions and the expertise of other partners, AMIRANI could contribute to:

• climate change mitigation and adaptation, climate risk assessment, environmental monitoring and sustainability analysis

• environmental and climate risk assessment, sustainability analysis and the interpretation of environmental evidence
• research on the links between biodiversity, ecosystem change and human health
• stakeholder mapping, community engagement and participatory approaches
• analysis of governance and policy needs and the translation of research findings into locally relevant recommendations

AMIRANI has not yet implemented projects in its own name. We are looking for research-led consortia where our founders’ complementary environmental and legal backgrounds can support a clearly defined work package or set of project tasks. We would welcome a discussion with coordinators developing proposals in these areas.
