About

Long-lifetime and optimised use of materials in recyclable Ag and In-free Si PV modules (EUPI-PV Partnership)

The sustainability of long lifetime PV will be evaluated with a prospective LCA comparing the innovation with the traditional PV in alignment with IEA PVPD and JRC Harmonised rules for carbon footprint of photovoltaic modules under the EU Eco-design Directive guidelines. A cradle to grave analysis will be performed, with a special focus on module end of life, including recyclability and reusability strategies. Circular and resource efficiency indicators will be analysed in alignment with the ISO 59020.

The LCA analysis will be included in the PV Ecodesign, evaluating different End of life routes developed in the project.

Additionally, a critical material assessment will be performed to evaluate the reduction the reduction of critical materials compared to the traditional PV.
