GREENTRUTH: Advancing Climate Science Communication and Combating Environmental Disinformation
Director of Strategic Development at Center for Social Innovation - CSI
Nicosia, Cyprus
About
Addressing the climate and environmental crisis requires not only scientific and technological innovation but also public understanding, trust, and engagement. However, disinformation surrounding climate change, environmental policies, and sustainability efforts increasingly undermines evidence-based decision-making. This Horizon Europe initiative aims to confront these challenges by developing resilient climate communication strategies, enhancing public literacy on environmental issues, and deploying advanced tools to detect, analyze, and counter climate-related disinformation.
The project will integrate insights from climate science, behavioral research, media studies, and digital technologies to create a comprehensive framework for accurate, compelling, and inclusive environmental communication. It will develop multi-channel outreach campaigns, participatory engagement activities, and interactive educational tools that translate complex environmental data—such as climate projections, biodiversity loss, and air quality indicators—into accessible and trustworthy narratives for different audiences. In parallel, innovative fact-checking systems, early-warning mechanisms, and analytics platforms will be designed to identify emerging misinformation trends and rapidly correct false claims circulating online and offline.
The Center for Social Innovation (CSI) seeks experienced partners to co-develop these solutions, contributing its expertise in digital public outreach, science communication, and community engagement. CSI brings strong connections to public services, policy stakeholders, and decision-makers, enabling targeted dissemination and policy-relevant impact. With a demonstrated capacity to deliver social innovation projects and reach diverse audience groups through multiple digital media channels, CSI will play a key role in shaping communication strategies, managing outreach activities, and ensuring that project outcomes achieve real societal impact.
Together, the consortium will build a robust European ecosystem that strengthens public trust, improves environmental literacy, and equips citizens and institutions to navigate and counter climate-related disinformation—ultimately supporting a more informed, resilient, and climate-conscious society.
