About
Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) is a leading research and development organisation in Cyprus with strong expertise in social innovation, environmental governance, climate adaptation and energy-transition initiatives. Its multidisciplinary team of over 40 professionals works across public policy, behavioural change, digital tool development and community engagement—skills directly relevant to analysing how geopolitical and security shifts affect EU Green Deal implementation and climate-energy commitments.
CSI has a wide network of more than 10,000 stakeholders, including ministries, municipalities, CSOs, academic institutions, environmental organisations and energy actors. Combined with its communication and digital development units, this network supports effective outreach, dissemination and engagement with policymakers, practitioners and the public. CSI excels in translating complex analyses—such as EU budget dynamics, energy policy instruments or institutional developments—into accessible policy messages and interactive tools.
CSI also plays a practical role in local energy transformation. As a founding actor in the Energy Community of Nicosia, Cyprus’ first urban energy cooperative, CSI brings hands-on experience in community-based renewable energy models, energy sharing and citizen engagement. This work provides valuable insight into implementation challenges, behavioural barriers and opportunities for local-level sustainability action.
CSI’s mission to advance social innovation and promote sustainable, inclusive development aligns closely with the project’s aims. Its environmental expertise, stakeholder reach and community-level energy work make it a strong partner for supporting research on the EU’s climate commitments, policy adaptation and the resilience of the green transition.
