About
Researchers at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid have optimized Powder Extrusion Moulding (PEM) to manufacture continuous metallic or ceramic profiles—solid or hollow—with high dimensional precision. This technology operates at lower processing temperatures than conventional methods, reducing energy consumption and production costs.
The process enables the fabrication of ultra-thin walls, microtubes and microlaminates, with controlled and adjustable porosity along the part, making it suitable for advanced applications such as Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFCs), filtration, energy devices, lightweight structures or biomedical implants. The integrated approach allows fine-tuning of feedstock, extrusion and sintering parameters to achieve the required mechanical and structural properties.
Collaboration sought: Companies producing metal or ceramic parts interested in adopting this technology or co-developing specific components under Technical or Commercial Agreements with technical assistance.
