Varun Ramraj

Varun Ramraj (D.Phil., Oxford) is a biotech entrepreneur, inventor, and strategic leader working at the intersection of genomics, digital health, and lab technology. He is the Founder and Director of PromoterX Ltd, a fractional leadership and board advisory consultancy helping tech and biotech companies grow from early-stage through to scale-up.

Varun is passionate about developing data management solutions for high-throughput and clinical applications in genomics and proteomics. He has collaborated on patent-pending AI-powered lab management applications. He has worked across R&D, commercial, and professional services teams at several biotech organisations and has led international teams delivering software for sequencing and clinical medical device development and delivery to market.

His healthcare roots run deep. As a member of the UK Vaccine Task Force, he led COVID-19 software deployment at Oxford Immunotec/Revvity, and he continues as an Honorary Clinical Fellow in Infectious Diseases at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust, where his work spans genomics-driven outbreak surveillance and lab automation.

Outside of industry, Varun is passionate about education and community. He maintains an adjunct academic attachment to Oxford, and is advising a stealth social entrepreneurship startup in their mission to improve schools. He continues to mentor and tutor GCSE and A-Level students. He has also spoken at the House of Commons on the future of IT and AI in healthcare, and dabbles in his seed investment, crowdfunding, and venture partnerships when time permits.
