The Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IFJ PAN) conducts basic and applied research in physics and related sciences. Its main research areas include particle physics and astrophysics, nuclear physics and strong interactions, condensed matter physics (including nanomaterials), and interdisciplinary studies with applications in medicine, biology, environmental protection, and nuclear geophysics.
Our team of experts works on a wide range of projects, from fundamental studies in nuclear structure to applied research in medical imaging and radiation protection.
A flagship project of the Institute is the Cyclotron Centre Bronowice (CCB), a unique clinical and research facility in Central Europe. Since 2016, the Centre has used the C-230 IBA cyclotron for proton therapy in cancer treatment and for advanced research in medical physics, radiobiology, and clinical medicine.
