About

The Independent Clinical Epigenetics Laboratory at the Pomeranian Medical together with The International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics (isMOCLEP) is looking for partners to enter grant: Cancer Mission: HORIZON-MISS-2025-02-CANCER-02: Understanding the effects of environmental exposure on the risk of paediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers

The Independent Clinical Epigenetics Laboratory is a research unit within the Faculty of Medicine at the Pomeranian Medical University (PMU) in Szczecin, Poland. The laboratory is led by professor Tomasz K. Wojdacz,

The research areas of this team encompass:

·      Environmental Epigenetics: research that investigates how environmental exposures affect epigenetic mechanisms like DNA methylation, histone modification, and non-coding RNA expression. This field aims to understand how such changes contribute to disease risk, development, and potential transgenerational effects.

·      Cancer Epigenetic: research explores how alterations in epigenetic mechanisms, such as DNA methylation and histone modifications, contribute to the initiation and progression of cancer. This research aims to identify epigenetic biomarkers for early detection and develop targeted therapies that reverse abnormal epigenetic changes in tumors.

·      Epigenetic Biomarker Research: research that focuses on developing epigenetic biomarkers, such as DNA methylation patterns, for advancing personalized medicine by enabling early diagnosis, precise prognosis, and tailored treatment strategies based on an individual’s unique epigenetic profile.

The International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics (isMOCLEP) is a global scientific organization dedicated to advancing collaboration, research, and knowledge exchange in the field of epigenetics. It serves as a platform for scientists, clinicians, early-career researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers interested in both the molecular mechanisms and clinical applications of epigenetic science. The of Independent Clinical Epigenetics Laboratory including instrumental role of prf. Tomas K. Wojdacz in society incorporation, were amongst funding members of the society.

One of the first initiatives of isMOCLEP is annual event, The Clinical Epigenetics International Conference (CLEPIC). Established in 2022, CLEPIC serves as a global platform for researchers, clinicians, and industry professionals to share the latest advancements in epigenetics, with a particular focus on its clinical applications. The upcoming CLEPIC 2025 is scheduled to take place in Naples, Italy, from June 11–13, 2025, and is organized in collaboration with the Università degli Studi della Campania Luigi Vanvitelli and isMOCLEP. The conference just after four years has become one of the major events in epigenetic research.

Now The Independent Clinical Epigenetics Laboratory of the Pomeranian Medical University and the International Society for Molecular and Clinical Epigenetics (isMOCLEP) have established a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing epigenetic research in cancer. This partnership unites leading clinical and academic expertise with a global scientific network, fostering interdisciplinary projects, innovation in biomarker discovery, and development of epigenetic diagnostics and therapeutics. Together, they aim to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge epigenetic insights into personalized cancer care and improve patient outcomes worldwide.
