Uncovering Environmental Drivers of Cancer Risk in Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults
About
We invite partners to collaborate on a Horizon Europe Cancer Mission proposal under the topic “Understanding the effects of environmental exposure on the risk of paediatric, adolescent and young adult cancers.” This project aims to unravel how early-life exposures—ranging from air pollution and endocrine disruptors to lifestyle and socioeconomic factors—contribute to cancer onset in young populations.
Our vision is to build a multidisciplinary consortium that brings together expertise in environmental epidemiology, molecular biology, exposomics, public health, paediatric oncology, and data science. The project will integrate longitudinal cohort data, environmental monitoring, biomarker analysis, and AI-driven risk modelling to identify causal links between environmental stressors and cancer incidence in children and young people.
We are particularly interested in collaborating with:
-
Research institutions in environmental health, oncology, and genomics
-
Clinics and cancer registries with access to paediatric and AYA (adolescent and young adult) patient data
-
Public health agencies and policy experts focused on cancer prevention
-
NGOs and patient advocacy groups that can support outreach and ethics-driven approaches
-
Technology partners with capabilities in data integration and modelling
Together, we aim to generate evidence that can shape preventive strategies, inform regulation, and reduce cancer risk in future generations.
