Raquel Rodriguez

Technology Transfer and Innovation Promotion Specialist at Universidad de Alcalá

Alcalá de Henares, Spain

About

This area brings together research groups from the University of Alcalá who have expertise in the following areas: electrochemical organic synthesis; toxicological evaluation; and response to CBRN threats. The groups' work focuses on drug development, analysing pollutants in biological matrices and designing solutions to address chemical, biological or environmental exposures.

Research Groups:

Services offered:

  • Synthesis and characterisation of organic compounds with pharmacological or functional potential

  • Development of new organic reactions and electrochemical characterisation

  • Toxicological analysis of pollutants in biological and environmental samples

  • Risk-benefit assessment in populations exposed to xenobiotics

  • Consultancy on preparedness and response to CBRN incidents

  • Human and environmental biomonitoring in cases of chemical or biological exposure

  • Research and development of pharmaceuticals for chemical or biological emergency situations

  • Medical and environmental decontamination in critical scenarios

Current Projects:

  • Electrochemical functionalisation of vinyl anthracenes coupled with DDT electroremediation and PNIPAM hydrogel formation — Organic Electrosynthesis Group

  • Isolation of spermatic fraction in sexual assault samples using MACS® columns — CBRN Group

  • Study of pollutant mixtures (PFAS and plastic-related chemicals), inflammatory pathways and immunity against SARS-CoV-2 — CBRN Group

Intellectual Property:

P202430144 – Anodic electrosynthesis of non-symmetrical azobenzenes and/or acyl aryldiazenes
