Electrosynthesis, Toxicological Assessment and Environmental Monitoring
Technology Transfer and Innovation Promotion Specialist at Universidad de Alcalá
Alcalá de Henares, Spain
About
This area brings together research groups from the University of Alcalá who have expertise in the following areas: electrochemical organic synthesis; toxicological evaluation; and response to CBRN threats. The groups' work focuses on drug development, analysing pollutants in biological matrices and designing solutions to address chemical, biological or environmental exposures.
Research Groups:
-
Organic Electrosynthesis: Develops novel organic reactions using electrochemical technologies with applications in pharmacology, energy and the environment.
-
Toxicological Risk Assessment: Evaluates the effects of pollutants on human health and the environment through toxicological analysis and biomonitoring.
-
Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Incidents (CBRN): Designs drugs, guidelines and medical countermeasures against chemical, biological and radiological threats to humans and ecosystems.
Services offered:
-
Synthesis and characterisation of organic compounds with pharmacological or functional potential
-
Development of new organic reactions and electrochemical characterisation
-
Toxicological analysis of pollutants in biological and environmental samples
-
Risk-benefit assessment in populations exposed to xenobiotics
-
Consultancy on preparedness and response to CBRN incidents
-
Human and environmental biomonitoring in cases of chemical or biological exposure
-
Research and development of pharmaceuticals for chemical or biological emergency situations
-
Medical and environmental decontamination in critical scenarios
