Partner Search: Circular Marine Biomaterials & Antimicrobial Peptide Scaffolds for Dental Applications

Lead Tissue Engineering Researcher & Clinical Consultant at Mersin University - Marine Sciences Application and Research Center (DEBIM)

MERSİN, Türkiye

About

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Mersin University DEBIM is building an international consortium for the EUREKA Biotechnology Call 2026. Our project adopts a circular biotechnology approach to transform by-products and waste from fish processing facilities into high-value biomedical products.

Specifically, we aim to:

1. Extract collagen from fish processing waste using sustainable and green methods.

2. Functionalize this marine collagen with natural antimicrobial peptides.

3. Develop advanced, bio-resorbed scaffolds and biomaterials tailored for tissue engineering and dental applications.

This multidisciplinary project sits at the intersection of the blue economy, advanced biomaterials, and sustainable healthcare technologies.

CURRENT CONSORTIUM STATUS:

We are already in active advanced discussions with an international industrial partner specialized in the development of antimicrobial components.

PARTNER SOUGHT:

To further strengthen and finalize our international consortium, we are seeking:

- Industrial Partners (SMEs/Large Enterprises) or Research Organizations from EUREKA participating countries.

- Specialized expertise in: Clinical trials/validation for dental biomaterials, advanced biocompatibility testing, or scaling up of marine-derived biomaterial production.

We are highly open to co-developing this proposal or exploring synergies with your ongoing initiatives. Let's connect for a brief online meeting to discuss collaboration opportunities!
