About

The OWL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (TH OWL) is a strong research university for applied sciences, which offers around 60 bachelor's and master's degree programs as well as doctoral programs at three locations. It is firmly anchored in Ostwestfalen-Lippe, a lively and economically strong region in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia.

The TH OWL is creative, innovative and sustainable. It lives through the diversity of its departments, which are technically, economically, creatively and artistically oriented.

The TH OWL is firmly anchored in the regional innovation system and has a strong profile in research. This foundation is built on high-performance research priorities and institutes in the four strategic research fields of our university: Production & Automation, Environment & Resources, Health & Life, and Space & Culture. These research fields account for the majority of research activities at the university and also form the basis for regional transfer areas in OWL that are diverse in terms of subject matter and geared towards specific economic sectors. Particularly at the interfaces, they link overarching, society-wide challenges in the context of economic and ecological sustainability, digitalisation and scientific dialogue.
