About
We are aiming to participate in a proposal under HORIZON-JU-CBE-2026-IAFlag-03 of Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) bio-based antibacterial solutions for home and personal care applications.
Our core innovation, illustrated in the concept visual, includes:
• Valorisation of bio-based chitin feedstock (e.g., marine biomass residues)
• Conversion to chitosan and advanced quaternisation modification
• Development of high-performance antibacterial bio-based coating systems
• Surface-active antimicrobial mechanism (contact-based bacterial inactivation)
• Validated microbial reduction (plate count assays demonstrated)
• Prevention of pathogen survival on treated surfaces
• Biodegradable, non-microplastic forming formulation
Target applications include:
