Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) is one of the largest and highest-ranked technical universities in Central Europe, with over 200 years of academic tradition and extensive experience in international research and innovation projects. The Faculty of Chemistry conducts interdisciplinary research at the interface of chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering and sustainable technologies, collaborating closely with industrial partners and public institutions.

Our research focuses on developing innovative solutions that support the transition towards a circular economy, climate neutrality, and sustainable energy systems. We combine fundamental physicochemical studies with applied engineering to deliver technologies with high industrial implementation potential.

The research team has extensive expertise in:

• circular economy and recycling technologies,

• recycling of end-of-life photovoltaic modules,

• polymer recovery and valorisation,

• advanced functional and engineering materials,

• ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents,

• thermophysical properties of materials,

• separation technologies,

• thermal energy storage materials,

• battery safety and energy-related materials,

• process modelling and scale-up of chemical technologies.

The laboratory infrastructure includes state-of-the-art equipment for thermal analysis, physicochemical characterization, phase equilibrium studies, chromatography, electrochemical measurements, rheology, and advanced materials characterization.

The team has significant experience in coordinating and participating in nationally and internationally funded research projects, including programmes financed by the National Science Centre (NCN), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the European Union and industrial partners.

Within the POLNORIS programme we are looking for Norwegian and Icelandic partners interested in developing innovative technologies for sustainable energy, circular economy, advanced materials and industrial implementation.
