Sustainable photovoltaic modules

The project involves the development of more sustainable PV modules that do not compromise efficiency and lifetime. More specifically, the main project developments are based on several pillars:

• ecodesign of PV modules to improve recyclability, including recycled content (glass, polymers, frames, cells...);

• ecodesign of PV modules to improve reparability, including actions in the field;

• testing of PV modules to ensure, by quantitative means, efficiency, lifetime and recyclability of the proposed solution;

• assessment of LCA and LCOE for the new products;

• finding application routes and business models for the recycled material, avoiding downcycling;

• definition of repair activities in the field, reuse and preparation for reuse;
