Developing spatial decision support system for CUE subtopic

About
The Group on Geoinformatics and Earth Observations (GEO) can develop decision‑support tools for the Circular Urban Economies (CUE) Transition Pathway by providing the geospatial data foundations, methods, and co‑design processes needed to turn Earth observation (EO) and in‑situ data into actionable intelligence for cities. This includes:
-
Data and indicator backbone for CUE: Supplying harmonised, high‑resolution EO‑derived layers (land cover, green/blue infrastructure, surface temperature, imperviousness, building stocks) and standardized indicators aligned with SDGs and EU urban policies to quantify circularity, greening, and resilience outcomes.
-
Earth Observation Value Chain integration: Embedding CUE tools within the EO value chain (observation → information → knowledge → decision support) so that scenario analyses, risk maps, and circularity metrics directly feed planning, procurement, and investment decisions.
-
Co‑design with cities and policymakers: Using GEO’s established co‑design and capacity‑development approaches to ensure tools address real CUE questions such as adaptive reuse potential, maintenance of green/blue assets, and circular urban production.
Topic
- Cross-cutting Topic 1: Adaptive reuse of existing urban structures and spaces
- CUE Topic 2: Innovative maintenance of urban green and blue spaces
- CUE Topic 3:Rethinking urban production for circular and resilient cities
