Project Overview: RECONCILE Concept

RECONCILE is a three-year transnational project addressing the failure of mainstream Circular Urban Economy (CUE) models in contested peri-urban environments. The project pioneers the Conflict-Adaptive Circularity (CAC) framework, which leverages existing informal, low-tech practices (such as decentralized waste-to-soil systems and water harvesting) as a resilient foundation for formal green and social infrastructure.   

Work Package II Description

WPII is a foundational Research-Oriented Approach (ROA) work package centered on governance, institutional adaptation, and socio-spatial analysis. The incoming partner will assume leadership of the following duties.

Responsibilities:

• Socio-Spatial Conflict Mapping: Analyzing legal, social, and cultural conflicts that govern resource access, flow, and practice in peri-urban Living Labs.

• Methodological Execution: Conducting stakeholder interviews, focus groups, ethnographic observations of resource practices, and regulatory gap analyses.

• Deliverables Production: Delivering four standardized "Conflict & Constraint Inventories" (one per Living Lab) and establishing an analytical framework for institutional adaptive capacity.

Partner Requirements

• Institution Type: Research and Innovation (R&I) organization, university, or specialized research institute with proven expertise in political science, urban governance, socio-spatial analysis, or institutional transitions.

• Commitment: Capable of leading WPII activities over the 36-month project duration and meeting the pre-proposal submission deadline of November 17, 2026.
