Collaborative solutions for urban sustainability: NESI's commitment to human-centered, nature-based urban planning and development
About
Fundacion Foro NESI (New Economy and Social Innovation) is a non-profit organization that works for a systemic change in the way we consider our current economic model into a more human and nature- based one. Specifically focused on projects involving built environment and also territorial balance, we work on projects such us renaturalisation and urban resilience with an integrated approach that connects environmental and social dimensions. Our role is to foster collaboration among diverse actors —citizens, technical experts, public administrations and private stakeholders— to ensure that green solutions address real needs and remain sustainable over time.
What NESI can offer:
-
Sensitive diagnosis: urban and sociological analysis, including interviews with users and vulnerable groups, to better understand space use and needs.
-
Dialogue and decision-making facilitation: participatory methodologies to involve local actors, experts and citizens in defining shared solutions.
-
Practical guidelines and recommendations: development of guidance to integrate inclusion, sustainability and proximity criteria into tenders and technical processes.
-
Space management and activation: advisory services for proper post-construction maintenance and for programming activities with local associations, ensuring vibrant and well-used spaces.
-
Post-occupancy evaluation: assessment of how spaces are used based on “urbanism for life” principles and criteria such as climate shelter, wellbeing and social cohesion.
-
Action-research: generation of transferable learnings to strengthen public policies and European knowledge exchange.
With this experience, we aim to join European projects on public space renaturalisation, climate shelter creation and green-social infrastructure, contributing innovative methodologies to connect environmental and social aspects.
We are looking to join projects (or co-design new ones) in which we can foster these roles.
