About
CASE – Center for Social and Economic Research based in Warsaw, Poland is an independent, non-profit institute founded in 1991. Within CASE, the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Change brings together a multidisciplinary team dedicated to addressing climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, sustainable urban transitions, and resilience building. Our department has extensive experience in:
-
Water resilience and disaster risk reduction – supporting regional and local authorities with evidence-based strategies, anticipatory governance approaches, and resilience planning.
-
Nature-based solutions (NbS) – including sponge city concepts, wetland and flood-resilient green spaces, and aquaponics-based food systems that combine food production, stormwater management, and community engagement.
-
Sustainable urban infrastructure – developing integrated models for stormwater management, biodiversity enhancement, and climate-friendly design of public spaces.
-
Community engagement and participatory governance – ensuring that ecological solutions foster social inclusion, health, and cohesion, while empowering citizens and local stakeholders.
-
Climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies – combining local ecological innovation with systemic policy recommendations.
We have a strong track record in European and international collaborative projects, where we provide case study development, piloting and testing of urban solutions, as well as policy analysis and dissemination. Our expertise lies in bridging scientific research with practice, enabling knowledge to shape effective policies and foster urban resilience.
For DUT Call 2025 (CUE Topic 1), we are particularly interested in projects that integrate green and social infrastructure to strengthen biodiversity, climate resilience, inclusivity, and community wellbeing. CASE is well positioned to contribute to project co-design, stakeholder engagement, governance models, and policy impact.
