Resilient Lab: A Transnational Living Lab for Climate-Resilient Coastal Futures

Carlos Pérez

Social Researcher – Al Detall Cooperative at Al Detall

Dénia, Spain

About

Resilient Dénia Lab is a proposal to create a transnational urban living lab in Dénia (Spain), focused on strengthening climate resilience and social preparedness in Mediterranean coastal cities. The project tackles growing risks such as heatwaves, floods, and ecological degradation through a combination of nature-based solutions, community engagement, and multi-level urban governance.

The initiative is led by Al Detall, a social research and consultancy cooperative specialised in community resilience, participatory governance, and ecological transition. Together with the Municipality of Dénia and local actors, we aim to co-design, test, and evaluate adaptation strategies that connect social innovation with environmental transformation.

We are looking for partners from other European countries to join this initiative and co-develop the proposal. We are open to research organisations, universities, municipalities, NGOs, social enterprises, and private or technical partners working on:

  • Urban climate adaptation and nature-based solutions

  • Community resilience and citizen engagement

  • Circular and regenerative urban design

  • Policy innovation and governance for sustainable transitions

We are open to any role in the consortium and do not necessarily need to act as coordinators. Our goal is to contribute to a strong, interdisciplinary partnership that advances the objectives of the Driving Urban Transitions Partnership (DUT) and the EU Mission on Climate Adaptation.

If your organisation works on climate adaptation, social innovation, or sustainable urban development, we would be glad to connect and explore collaboration opportunities.
