About

Challenge:
European cities face the double challenge of ageing populations and sustainable urban mobility. Seniors often experience reduced access to services, shops, healthcare, and social life – especially when walking longer distances is difficult and public transport is not fully adapted to their needs.

Project Objective:
To pilot and evaluate lightweight electric mobility solutions (e-trikes, small e-vehicles) tailored for seniors, supporting their independence and participation in the 15-minute city model.

Approach:

  • User-centred design: co-creation with seniors and caregivers.

  • Integration with public space & urban infrastructure.

  • Business and governance models for shared and private use.

  • Testing in partner cities with different urban morphologies.

  • Evaluation of health, social and environmental impacts.

Looking for partners:

  • Municipalities / city districts willing to pilot in real environments.

  • Technology providers / SMEs (e-mobility, assistive devices, sharing platforms).

  • Research organisations (urban planning, transport, social sciences, health).

  • NGOs / senior associations for co-creation and testing.

Expected impact:

  • Enhanced mobility and wellbeing of elderly citizens.

  • Contribution to inclusive 15-minute cities.

  • Scalable, sustainable mobility solutions for ageing societies across Europe.
