Lived Experience for Inclusive Urban Futures

Nicole Thorpe

Founder at Living Futures Lab

Munich, Germany

About

I bring real lived experience of a chronic neurodegenerative illness (Young Onset Parkinson’s) into urban innovation, offering user insight on fluctuating ability, mobility, and accessibility. Through the Living Futures Lab initiative, I bridge lived experience with urban design and inclusivity. As co-founder of Cultinova (www.cultinova.com), I add expertise in urban food systems, urban agriculture, controlled environment agriculture (CEA), and green/blue infrastructure. My work also includes sensing technologies to evaluate greening interventions and improve productivity in urban farming.

What I Offer

  • Lived-experience perspective and insights into participating in the urban and built environments with a degenerative disease.

  • Inclusive co-creation with vulnerable, often overlooked communities.

  • Expertise in Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), AgTech, and resilient local food systems.

  • Contribution to accessible green/blue infrastructure that fosters health, wellbeing, and cohesion.
