Looking For Concortium

Adil Tarık ÖZKURT

Physics Engineer at Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipalty

About

Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation serves as the principal public authority responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing sustainable urban mobility strategies in Kocaeli, a leading industrial and logistics hub in Türkiye. With over 2 million residents and a high volume of daily commuters, Kocaeli faces both challenges and opportunities in ensuring efficient, safe, and inclusive transportation systems.

The Department includes specialized units such as the Transportation Management Center (UYM), which integrates cutting-edge technologies like Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), SCADA monitoring, adaptive traffic signalization, and real-time data analytics. These capabilities enable us to manage multi-modal transport operations, respond swiftly to incidents, and inform strategic decisions.

We are seeking to join a qualified consortium as:

- Pilot Testing and Demonstration: Offering urban areas with diverse modal usage (pedestrian, bicycle, e-scooter, public transport) for real-world experimentation.
- Policy and Regulatory Insights: Enabling local-level application of new rules, infrastructural adaptations, and behavioral change strategies.
- Data Contribution: Providing anonymized traffic flow, user behavior, infrastructure quality, and accident data through advanced ITS systems.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinating with citizens, academia, local industry, and enforcement units for co-designed safety solutions.

Kocaeli has made significant strides in supporting active mobility, zero-emission zones, and smart urban transport planning, aligning with EU climate neutrality and Vision Zero goals. Participation in this call will help us further our mission to create a safe, inclusive, and sustainable transportation ecosystem.
