Bistro at Bolevec Pond, Pilsen

This unique modular project was commissioned through a public tender issued by the City of Pilsen. The architectural concept was developed by Projektstudio8, while ModulLine was responsible for the complete turnkey delivery of the building, including technical design, production documentation, manufacturing, installation, and final completion.

The building was constructed from 2.5 upcycled 40-foot high-cube shipping containers, which were longitudinally cut and extensively modified to create a modern waterfront bistro. This sustainable approach gave new purpose to existing containers while delivering a distinctive architectural landmark.

Our scope of work included the complete interior fit-out of the bistro, including the kitchen facilities and back-of-house areas, as well as the construction of a rooftop terrace with a tensile fabric shading system. We also carried out the surrounding landscaping, paving works, and external surfaces immediately adjacent to the building.

One of the project's defining features is the steel pier structure with an outdoor terrace extending directly over the pond. This elegant waterfront deck creates a seamless connection between the building and the surrounding landscape, offering visitors a unique experience closely integrated with nature.

The building is heated by electric radiant ceiling panels and equipped with a mechanical ventilation system serving both the kitchen and sanitary facilities, ensuring efficient and comfortable year-round operation.

This project demonstrates how modular architecture can successfully respond to both urban and natural environments. By combining sustainable construction methods, innovative design, and high-quality craftsmanship, the project breathes new life not only into recycled shipping containers but also into the surrounding public waterfront space.
