About

BLUE Engineering is seeking to join multidisciplinary European consortia addressing the following Horizon Europe topics:

  • HORIZON-HLTH-2027-03-TOOL-04: Virtual Human Twins for integrated clinical decision support in prevention and diagnosis

  • HORIZON-HLTH-2027-03-TOOL-08: Towards Artificial General Intelligence for healthcare

BLUE is a multidisciplinary engineering and technology company with experience in system engineering, numerical simulation, software development, Artificial Intelligence, multimodal sensing and healthcare applications. The company can bridge scientific research, engineering implementation, clinical usability and future industrial exploitation.

For the Virtual Human Twins topic, BLUE could lead or co-lead a work package covering:

  • VHT system engineering and overall architecture;

  • integration of heterogeneous computational and patient-specific models;

  • biomechanical modelling of organs, tissues and anatomical structures;

  • integration of clinical, imaging, sensor and medical-device data;

  • software platform development and interoperability;

  • visualisation tools and clinician-facing interfaces;

  • software quality, verification and validation;

  • integration of VHT-based decision support into clinical workflows;

  • risk management and responsible AI engineering;

  • industrialisation, exploitation and regulatory strategy.

HoloClinic could be integrated as a clinician-facing environment for consulting, interacting with and visualising VHT models and their outputs. It would act as an enabling interface within the overall VHT architecture rather than representing the central project result.

AI-SURG is a particularly relevant reference project for both calls. It combines multimodal data acquisition, clinical and behavioural modelling, semantic knowledge representation, Artificial Intelligence, anomaly detection, telemonitoring and continuity of care between the hospital and the patient’s home. This experience could support the definition of patient-specific models, clinically relevant decision-support scenarios and human-centred interaction between healthcare professionals and advanced AI systems.

For the AGI for healthcare topic, BLUE could contribute to the preparation of the European technical roadmap by:

  • mapping system architectures for frontier AI in healthcare;

  • defining requirements for multimodal and heterogeneous health data integration;

  • contributing to dataset identification, interoperability and privacy-preserving data pipelines;

  • analysing approaches for integrating specialised foundation models;

  • defining engineering requirements for trustworthy, explainable and human-centred AI;

  • identifying evaluation, verification, safety and software-quality criteria;

  • providing practical clinical and industrial use cases;

  • supporting the engagement of SMEs, technology providers and medical-device stakeholders.

BLUE would complement universities, frontier AI developers, hospitals, biomedical research organisations, AI Factories, HPC centres and health-data infrastructures by translating research concepts into robust architectures, integrated software environments and clinically usable solutions.

BLUE is particularly interested in collaborating with coordinators and partners offering complementary expertise in clinical research, multiorgan and multiscale modelling, foundation models, health datasets, EHDS, biobanks, AI Factories, clinical validation, patient engagement, health economics, ethics and medical-device regulation.
