Clinical Nutrition Interventions in Non-Communicable Diseases

MD, PhD | Physician specialised in Clinical Nutrition | Oncology, Survivorship & Healthy Ageing at Lithuanian Society of Dietology (Lietuvos dietologų draugija), VšĮ Medivita

Vilnius, Lithuania

About

We are looking to join European research consortia developing and evaluating innovative healthcare interventions for non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

I am a physician (MD, PhD) specialising in clinical nutrition, representing the Lithuanian Society of Dietology and VšĮ Medivita. I currently work at a hospital in Vilnius, providing clinical nutrition care for patients with obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other conditions. I also have nearly 20 years of experience in clinical nutrition in oncology at the National Cancer Center of Lithuania.

We can contribute to:

  • Developing and implementing evidence-based clinical nutrition interventions.

  • Educating patients and developing clinical nutrition training programmes for healthcare professionals, drawing on my experience as co-author of a Lithuanian textbook on nutrition care management. In Lithuania, clinical nutrition training is expected to become mandatory for a broad range of healthcare professionals from 2028, creating an opportunity to bring project results into routine care nationwide.

  • Implementing and evaluating clinical interventions, drawing on previous experience in medical monitoring and safety reporting in multinational Phase II–IV clinical trials.

  • Sharing project results with healthcare professionals, patient organisations and the public in Lithuania, including talks at national conferences and contributions to national media (Delfi, Lrytas), with links to professional networks in Latvia and Estonia (working languages: Lithuanian, English, Russian).

My experience also includes providing clinical nutrition consultations and patient education through a patient support project of the Lithuanian Cancer Patient Coalition (POLA), as well as educational activities at the National Cancer Center Patient School.

Medivita works with a multidisciplinary group of healthcare professionals, including specialists in internal medicine, oncology, dietetics, nursing and physiotherapy. This allows us to combine medical care, nutrition and physical activity in lifestyle interventions.

Possible role: nutrition expert or task leader for the nutrition component of an intervention, training healthcare professionals, involving patients through patient organisations and supporting dissemination in Lithuania.

We are particularly interested in working with universities, research institutions, healthcare organisations and project coordinators developing interventions for clinical evaluation, with the aim of improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
